After the craziness of the last few weeks, I thought it was time to update my blog...which has not been updated since I created it! With the changes in the Wise household, now is a good time to officially start the blogging....
@ a 28 week routine appt. for little Wise guy, I told Dr. I think I was having "fake" contractions, so she decided to check my cervix. Since it was thinner than the previous month and showing some funnelling, she scooted me over (literally wheeled me) to the hospital for observation. Observation turned into monitoring, which turned into a 2 day stay at Community North. We were put on medication to control contractions, and Baby Wise got steroid shots to improve lung function in case he did decide to come way too early.
Thankfully, he didn't. We were released onto bed rest for a week and half, and eventually put on a sub-Q terbutaline pump which gives me a continuous flow of meds via a catheter in my leg 24/7. The pump is annoying, but if it's stopping him from coming too soon, I am fine with it. I also have to monitor my contractions one hour a day, send the results wirelessly to monitoring center, and then speak with a nurse who calls to discuss how many contrax she saw vs how many I think I have. The nurses are all really nice and have a KY accent, so it's never bad to chat with them. :)
After strict bed rest, with family, friends, and neighbors all visiting and helping out, I was released to go back to work at 30 weeks. At the follow up appt., my cervix was back to "normal" and no more funnelling. So, bed rest, fluids, and meds are working!
I am now 31.5 weeks, working, and missing working out! Glad we are getting closer to due date and contrax are at a minimum and NOT changing cervix.
The ironic part of it all, three days before all this drama, Nick and I are out to dinner for our 2nd marriage anniversary. At "The Melting Pot" we cheers to a happy, healthy pregnancy and talk about how lucky we have been that the pregnancy has been so smooth and without problems thus far. We spoke a little too soon! But we think this is just a little bump in the road for now and can't wait till little Wise guy is here.
